Over the last few months we’ve been simultaneously tackling multiple projects at once. It’s been pretty overwhelming. But one of our projects that’s almost in decent enough shape to show on the blog is our main bathroom.
Max was able to snap some before photos on the house during our last tour before the closing. Here is what the bathroom looked like before we touched anything.
I talked a little bit about some of the ideas I had for this room in our “before” house tour post. We didn’t want to do too much to this room right off the bat. Mainly we wanted to paint the walls, cabinets, and mirror. And then replace the hardware and light fixture.
Eventually I think it would be nice to take out the fiberglass tub and re-do it with tile. And I would also like to replace the countertop/sink and flooring to something that is more modern looking. But those things will have to wait.
We let this room sit for a few months because I couldn’t decide what color to paint the room. But then I finally went to Pinterest and started collecting inspiration photos.

Once I started pinning I realized I was really digging the dark bathroom colors. Since we moved in we’ve been painting most of our rooms white. So a dark, bold color felt like a bit of a risky choice for us. But the bathroom is a pretty small room. And we figured we may as well try a bold color. If we didn’t love it, it wouldn’t be super terrible to repaint it.
And so dark blue is what we decided to do!
Stay tuned… I’m finishing up some final touches to the bathroom and will be blogging some “progress” photos soon!
